Romulo Royo, born in 1976 in Saragossa. lives and works in Spain.
He got vocational formation at painting, illustration and design.

"The use of modern technology can be art, but it is not always art"
Nine years ago he assured: "All arts can be mixed and their importance is equal. I have no preferences, but I do try to avoid that all I do always results in the same thing. I am very intuitive in my works and just let myself go, although I start from a previously elaborated plan. This implies having unexpected results and sometimes scarping works ". Today Romulo Royo is one of the most influential Aragon´s young artists renowned nationally .

Immersing us in some of the works, we discover a similar set between the used means and how they are exposed. Due to the way the works are situated at the exhibition, each of them can function independently or in junction with another one as one single work, the message or the interpretation being more ambiguous or sophisticated.

 

They are not just works with technology, like for example the installation with hologram by means of aluminium and laser video projection. A global work is seeked in it.

Romulo Royo (Zaragoza, 1976) presents a series of works, paintings ans sculptures, initiated last year. One of these pieces of art was awarded a painting prize by Vila Casas Foundation.  The last days physical exhaustion seized us. The uncomfortable position of painting upward, the melancholic gray of Moscow and the lack of rest made us feel a pinch. It was accompanied with the tension of always close visualization of the work, without general perspective and with the incertainty due to the lack of global vision which could be contemplated upon the end.  In his artistic reflection there is, however, a call of attention to different appearances, sometimes deceiptive, with which an event can be presented actually.   We are now living in a puristic epoch and I don´t think hierarchy should exist, but all the things should fuse.  In one of his photographic works he places us in front of a rickety door in an abandoned lot. Over the door, called Alice´s Door, we can read: "No unauthorized entry, guarded private property".

It is probably the clearest invitation to alter the usual order of realitiies, the logical order, the order which is supposed to be guarded but can be and should be trespassed, looking for something more than it is striclty necessary; the invitation to the other side of the wonders.
